Point of Sale Tax in South Carolina is just another money grab! This tax occurs every time someone purchases a new home or business. At time of sale, the property tax is then based on sales price rather than appraised value. Talk about slowing down real estate growth. As I understand it, the "Education" establishment is crying that they would be affected if this tax were to be repealed. Give me a break!! Has anyone actually looked at some of these new schools that have or are being built? They are really something to behold. Also, does anyone actually know how how many six figure incomes are being paid to the eighty plus school district offices. This, coupled with the large payroll at the "State Board of Education" will make ones eyes water!!!!!
It is time for our legislators to get a grip on reality and put an end to these kind irresponsible taxes. Our educators and parents also need to wake up. We have lost sight of what is really important in education; it is teaching our children math, science, language skills, and history. It is not building plush schools or teaching feel good subjects.
I fear that South Carolina is losing it's resolve in making rational decisions/judgement and implementing appropriate actions. Common sense saeems to have gone out the window. You can't spend more than you have! You need to distinguish between "WANTS" and "NEEDS". By all observations, the "WANTS" are all that is being addressed!!
